FACTOR

ROOT CANAL

EXTRACTION

Your Goal

Preserve your natural tooth and root.

Remove the tooth and infection entirely.

Gap Preservation

No gap; natural alignment is maintained.

Creates a gap; may need implant or bridge.

Patient Experience

Similar to a filling; zero pain when numbed.

Physical pressure during removal; socket heals.

Long-term Path

Strength often restored with a crown.

Requires secondary work to fill the space.

Your Comfort-First Journey

1

Gentle Numbing

We start by ensuring the area is completely numb using effective, modern local anaesthetics. Our experienced York team takes the time to make sure you feel nothing but a gentle touch before we begin.

2

Deep Clean

The infected tissue called the dental pulp is meticulously removed. Using magnification and advanced technology, we thoroughly disinfect the canals to eliminate pain and stop the infection from spreading.

3

Precise Sealing

The cleaned root canal is then shaped and sealed with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. This provides a long-lasting sterile seal that protects the tooth from future issues.

4

Preserving Strength

Finally, we restore your tooth with a crown or filling. This keeps your natural tooth structure strong and durable, allowing you to smile and eat with full confidence for years to come.

Healing from a root canal is very similar to a standard filling. Here is how we ensure your comfort after your visit.

  • Pain Management: Most discomfort is easily managed with standard over-the-counter relievers.

  • Long-term Care: With normal brushing and regular checkups at our York practice, your treated tooth can last a lifetime, just like your natural teeth.

We are always here to help. If you have any concerns during your healing, our team at Jorvik Dental is just a phone call away.
